To Coaches and Team Managers Working with Children Check As you would be aware, in 2006 the Victorian Government introduced a new checking system to help protect children under 18 years of age from physical or sexual harm. This "Working with Children" (WWC) Check has become mandatory for all adults involved with children in both paid and voluntary positions. Basketball Clubs are among the list of organizations that must have their volunteers complete the WWC Check by June the 30th 2009. As a result, the controlling Committee of the Hurstbridge Hurricanes Basketball Club must ensure that all Coaches, Team Managers and Committee Members have completed the WWC Check by this due date. ********************************** You will be unable to Coach or Team Manage if you do not have your "Working with Children" card. **********************************

18 teams made the finals and of those 11 played in the grand final.
Of the 11 teams who played in the grand final 7 managed to win. This is an exceptional effort for all those concerned.

Contact Paul on: 9718 2148 0400 214 806 paul.manning@hurstbridgehurricanes.org.au Update on stadium tender Dear Members, You may be aware that the Hurstbridge Stadium has been part of the recent tender process undertaken by the Nillumbik Council in which all the shire’s leisure facilities are to be placed under a management arrangement. We are currently in negotiation with the Council to undertake the management of the stadium, but it is only early days. The Committee has an extensive job in preparing the correct reports and analysis in order to complete the necessary requirements of the tender. This is a significant and exciting step forward for the club, which will open up many opportunities in the future. We will keep you updated as further information becomes available.
